more twyla info

by on May.03, 2006, under Uncategorized

Well, the stuff in her lungs is in the very early stages. It’s only because they have a big powerfull and exacting machine at CSU that they were able to see anything at all. Of course that means that the chemo wasn’t working, so Twyla gets to skip the last two.
I have some nice drugs for her now… including one that requires me to wear gloves when handling it.
On the plus side, she’s still very happy and loving and in no pain.

twyla update (not good)

by on May.03, 2006, under Uncategorized

I took Twyla up today for her 5th chemo. They did a x-ray before the treatment and the news is not good: They have noticed that it’s spread into her lungs. Realisticaly at this point they say she has 3-4 months left. They suggest we do some low grade chemo at home (via meds I can give her) to slow things down and make her more comfy. They didn’t do the chemo today as it wasn’t seeming to be effective.
I should know more when I go and pick her up later today…

Hopefully she will keep being happy and make it to at least some of the Ren Faire (she loves that so much).

kurt's home

by on May.02, 2006, under Uncategorized

I went and picked up kurt around 3:30pm. He was happy to see me. The puncture wound on his toe didn’t have anything stuck in it and it didn’t look like any kind of tumor. They cleaned it up and stitched it up. They had to extract one of his smaller back teeth, the roots were dead on it. He doesn’t seem much out of it, bounced right back from being zonked.

I will say one thing: Doggie medical bills are at least as bad if not worse than people medical bills.

Tomorrow: Up to CSU to drop Twyla for her 5th of 6 chemo treatments.

good thoughts for kurt and upcoming concerts!

by on May.02, 2006, under Uncategorized

Well, dropped kurt off at the vet this morning for his dental/poking at his foot. Hope everything goes well. I always get very nervous when they have to put any of my pups under. Luckily they really like kurt there and he likes all the folks there, so hopefully it won’t be too much stress for him.

Also, all you local Denver/Boulder folk:
The Asylum Street Spankers are coming back through colorado this coming weekend.

5.5.06 Friday Boulder, CO Trilogy 9pm
5.7.06 Sunday Fort Collins, CO Avogadros Number 7:30pm

Again not entirely sure I will hit both shows, but I probibly will.
They really are very fun… everyone should go see them.

more vet fun

by on May.01, 2006, under Uncategorized

Kurt managed somehow today to get a puncture in one of his back toes… I was going to just put some antibiotic on it and wrap it up, but it was very swollen up and nasty looking, so I decided to take him into the vet. The vet poked at it some and concluded there might be something stuck in there (splinter, etc) or the like, so tomorrow kurt gets to go in and get put under so the doc can poke around on his toe. :( I always hate having to put any of my guys under, but kurt is also way due for a teeth cleaning, so might as well get it all done.

Of course wed I get to go up to CSU and take Twyla in for her next chemo.

Oh well, I’m sure someone is going to get a new boat or a summer home from all my vet bills, but such is life.

Will try and catch up on pictures later tonight.
