Fedora 13 Xfce Spin…get it while it’s hot!

by on May.29, 2010, under site

With the release of Fedora 13, the Xfce SIG is happy to release a new version of the Xfce spin.

There were not a lot of vast changes in this cycle, but there were some nice tweaks and of course all the goodness of F13 as a base.

If you have a less capable machine or just want a lightning fast desktop experience, drop by http://spins.fedoraproject.org and give the Xfce spin a try today!

getting the blog back together

by on Jan.01, 2010, under site

Sheesh… it’s been not quite 2 years since I last posted here. :(

I’ve migrated my old wordpress blog over to this new shiny wordpress-mu one.
I expect you will see pictures of dogs and other around the house items and some random musings here at some point.

My new phone can post here directly, so hopefully that will prompt me to take pictures with it and post them here.

Happy new year everyone.

x-mas fun

by on Dec.30, 2007, under dogs, photos, site

This holday season has been pretty nice… we decided to just stay home and relax.
It’s been nice to just have Wendy and I and the dogs around. We’ve both played a ton of Oblivion on the ps3.

I got a nice new camera: a Fuji f50fd. So far I really like it. The image stablization works pretty well, and it takes pretty nice pics.

I am still trying to decide what I want to do about organizing my photos, but as an test I setup a gallery2 site for the new camera pictures…
Follow any of the links on the pictures below to go to the gallery site.

Here’s a few pics from the last few days of playing:

Legs relaxing

Legs seems to be pretty happy living here.

Legs and Wendy

Wendy does too.

Kurt

Kurt is doing pretty darn well all things considered.
He was diagnosed with Lymphoma not long back and has been going thru some chemo, but it’s all been going very smoothly.

Prince

Some folks came and met Prince today. They are going to look at 2 other dogs before they decide…
he seemed to get along well with them…Hopefully he will get adopted soon.

hopefully pictures soon…

by on Jul.19, 2007, under site

I was planning on doing a number of picture posts, but got sidetracked.

Nash had the side of his face puff up again. This time he went in for x-rays and surgery. They pulled a ton of blood and puss out of there. The x-rays looked fine, no sign of cancer or a foriegn object. The Dr did say he saw a slightly diffrently colored area on the back on his throat. It might have been something that jabbed him and then came out the same way.

He looks pretty gruesome right now, although better than he did yesterday. He’s on a ton of antibiotics and I get to rince out his wound 3x a day.

Hopefully if I can find net access down in durango, I should be able to catch up on photo posts. (Heading down there for a family vacation tomorrow).

Months of slacking

by on Jul.17, 2007, under dogs, faire, site, trailer

Well, I have totally failed to keep up with my postings. ;(

Last post was in mid-may, so just a bit over 2 months ago.
I just grabbed a ton of pictures off my camera, so look for some photo post updates very soon.

Other things that have been going on (in no particular order):

- The Ren faire has been going on. Have been going most every weekend down there with the pups. I have a ton of pictures.
- Camped down at the campground near faire some, and went on another short camping trip up to boyd lake. I really am enjoying my trailer. :)
- Ran out to Austin one weekend for a surprise birthday party for a friend. He was indeed very surprised, and it was a lovely time.
- Went down to another friends wedding reception. It was a blast, and the trailer worked great down in NM.
- Lots more that I am sure I have forgotten.

Look for some photo posts soon to catch up…

First post of 2007

by on Jan.14, 2007, under dogs, photos, site

wow… I haven’t posted anything yet in 2007. :)

Not too much going on… busy work, cold snowy days.

Managed to bottle out Blackberry Vanilla mead the other day. It’s very yummy. I think it turned out great.
We still need to gather up bottles and bottle up the plain batch we did at the same time.

Sierra the foster girl left last week for her forever home. She’s heading out with a group of 30 pups being taken out to the coast.
I sure hope she has a good home, she was very sweet.

Looks like I will be heading out to Fudcon Boston in early feb.
Should be a good trip, I am looking forward to it, although I hate to leave the pups at home…

Now to catch up on pictures:

Ready for walking

Ready to head out the door for a walk, Sierra, Merlin, Kurt, Nash.

Nash in snow

I have started using Twylas old Soft Touch Harness on Nash.
It’s worked wonders. Before he was pulling up a storm, to the point were it was starting to hurt my hand. :(
With the harness he only very ocassionally pulls at all.

Brush

I got this $1.75 brush in the horse section at petsmart. It’s wonderfull… I reccomend them for any hound owners.
It pulls quite a bit off of Nash, but it’s worked great on the other hounds too.

Footprints

This is what the outside of the door to the back yard looked like the other day.
Nice puppy print patterns.

Kurt

Kurt’s looking pretty stylish in his coat.

Snow zoomies

Nash loves some snow zoomies.

Kurt and Merlin

Kurt and Merlin sharing a couch. Note that kurt has woken up and seen me get the camera, and is trying to decide if it’s
more scary to stay there while they flash goes off, or get up and potentially annoy merlin by removing his pillow.

back home

by on Jul.31, 2006, under site

Made it back home a bit ago… it’s sure nice to be back with my pups and kitty. :)

I took about a zillion pictures at the Grand Canyon… will post those and write up some impressions of the trip tomorrow.
It was a very nice trip, but it’s also good to be home.

Lovely weekend and busy week ahead…

by on Jul.24, 2006, under site

Well, it was a lovely weekend. Friday’s trip south was pretty uneventfull. We got checked in at 10k waves just fine. They were all very very nice folks there, it was a lovely spot. There were celing fans to terrify kurt, but he handled them better than he has in the past. After getting all checked in and unloaded we decided to make someone deliver food to us and had a nice late mexican food dinner.
Saturday we loafed around and killed time until the wedding. The wedding was at hyde park lodge and was lovely. It did start to rain, but there was enough cover than everyone could stay out of it. Lots and lots of yummy things to drink at the fully stocked bar. Very yummy dinner as well. It was really nice to see some folks that I haven’t seen in many years and catch up. I helped break down the bar and we wandered back to the room to hang out the rest of the night.
Sunday was packing up and a brunch in santa fe before heading back north. The place we went let us sit outside and have the dogs there with us, which was nice. The trip back was long, but not nearly as bad as if it had been all the way from Cruces.

Will try and catch up on my picture post backlog in the next few days…

This week is gonna be busy too:

  • Tonight: GURPS game
  • Tomorrow or Wed night: going up to Nutt to see puppies and see who I am going to foster next
  • Sometime: meet with my dog/cat/house sitter to get her a key and all setup
  • Thursday: fly to phx to visit my friend C and then go on our family vacation to the grand canyon
  • Friday: hang out with C
  • Saturday: go to my sisters house and then up to Williams, AZ
  • Sunday: Grand Canyon train trip and back to Williams for the night
  • Monday: fly home.
