looking forward to camping tomorrow, but I have done almost nothing to pack or get ready.
Oh well, will do that tomorrow morning before I head down south.

I hope the wireless at the campground is all working. :)

busy weekend

by on Jun.26, 2006, under Uncategorized

Twas a busy weekend. Saturday was out to faire for opening and hanging out there until about 2pm. It was the usual suspects manning the booth. Was nice to see all the pups and their people. :) Got talked into subfostering next weekend for someone going out of town. That should help me know if I am ready for full time fostering stuff yet or not. At 2pm, I headed back home and met up with my friend C and his girl. They were in town for a reunion and got to visit with me some when they weren’t doing reuinon stuff. After pondering a bit we went out to the hibatchi place on 104th. Very nice. Good food, sushi, and a guy waving knives around and causing gigantic bursts of flame. :) Then, back home to watch a movie (american beauty, since C had never seen it. ).

Sunday was another faire day, except sunday I was out all day. The weather was perfect. 70′s and overcast for most of the day. Merlin was being very bouncy, so I took him in the parade. He did spins at the first part of the walk he was so happy. Walking that deathmarch with my chainmail on was pretty tiring, but in a very good way. After faire I headed home and got the pups fed and such. C and girl got held up in traffic, and we didn’t end up going for food until very late, but it was still fun to chat with them some more.

Now it’s monday and time for working, then dropping C at the airport.
(OH, pictures up later today/tomorrow hopefully)

rabbits… not smart

by on Jun.23, 2006, under Uncategorized

Just got back from walking the boys (Yes, I am dumb and we walked at the hotest part of the day).

We had a nice hot walk and when we got back to the house there was a rabbit in the front yard. This was however not a smart rabbit (if such a thing exists), but rather a mentally challenged one. We walked up the front steps (me pulling Merlin and Merlin pulling to get the rabbit), and then the rabbit decided to run. Running away wouldn’t be too bad an idea, except something misfired in it’s poor little head and it ran right past Merlin. If I hadn’t had a good grip on the leash that would have been one dead bunny. As it was he escapeed with just a tumble and hopefully not too many bite marks. Perhaps I should have let Merlin have it, since I don’t think this rabbit is going to survive long in the wild.

faire report

by on Jun.19, 2006, under Uncategorized

This weekend was weekend 2 of the faire. It was a bit bittersweet for me being out there without Twyla in tow. :(
We were also very low on people manning the booth, so I pretty much spent all my time hanging out there.

I will do a photo post of all the pics I got this weekend later today/tonight…

Twyla update

by on Jun.12, 2006, under Uncategorized

Twyla hasn’t been doing at all well today. She doesn’t want to do stairs, has trouble breathing, and in general no energy.
She did scarf down the hot dogs I gave her, but turned up her nose to the nice smelly canned dog food.
This afternoon shes done somewhat better, managing to make it out to the yard to do her business and back, and she’s been able to sleep a bit, somewhat peacefully looking.
There’s a chance she’s just wiped out from the faire, so I am going to see how she’s doing tomorrow before making any decisions, but if she’s at this level from now on, it might be time to help help her go. She’s not having much fun at this point. :(

back from faire

by on Jun.11, 2006, under Uncategorized

Have a bunch of pictures to upload, will probibly do that tomorrow…

It was nice to see lots of friends and folks out at faire. On saturday Twyla was pretty raring to go, and managed to make it up to the booth without much trouble. She was lower energy than normal, but she really liked the attention. I have a few pictures of her grinning when people are petting her. Sunday she was even lower energy and we had to take a number of breaks on the way up the hill, she really got tired out sunday afternoon, but did manage to make it to the car ok. I did have to carry her into the house from the garage tho. ;(
All in all it was very good for her to go out and enjoy. Time is running short for her I fear… :(

twyla update and getting ready for faire

by on Jun.09, 2006, under Uncategorized

This weekend is the opening weekend of the Colorado Ren Faire down in Larkspur.
It’s gonna be a hot one.

Twyla is not doing that great right now. She’s started having more labored breathing, and has been very low energy.
She didn’t eat much yesterday either. I have been plying her with yummy foods today to try and get her energy up.

Not sure how much faire she will be up for this weekend. Will see on saturday how she does.

I should be anticipating going to faire, but I am just mostly worried about Twyla. ;(
Need to get all my garb together tonight and check through everything, then I need to decide what outfit to wear to what day. I am leaning toward the chainmail tomorrow and the scottish outfit sunday right now. I guess it doesn’t matter much.

Colorado Castle Faire 2006

by on Jun.05, 2006, under Uncategorized

This last weekend was the second annual Colorado Castle Faire up near Fort Collins. I didn’t make it last year, but wanted to at least stop by some this year. So, sunday afternoon I headed up there.
First of all, they didn’t have their site marked very well. There was a small and not very orented banner at the turnoff. Took me a while to find the place. The site was pretty dusty. Apparently saturday they had a ton of wind and dust storms.
By no means was it a big faire, but they were trying. :) They had mead, and a little tavern. The main attraction was apparently some fighting troupes sparring in the middle of the site. There were some romans there who were very nice to talk with. I ran into some old friends there and it was nice to hang out with them and catch up some. There was also a number of folks I knew from the more southern faire.

I spent about 4 hours there and that was just about right. I pretty much looked thru everything and talked to everyone in that time. ;)

bazcamp

by on Jun.04, 2006, under Uncategorized

This weekend was Bazcamp weekend. Pretty delightfull time. I wandered up there friday evening, getting there just in time for the last bits of dinner. There was wireless, there was lovely outdoor setting, there was lake, there was movies from a projector. All in all a nice time. I was worried that Twyla wouldn’t be up for it, but she had a nice time getting attention from people there, and then later cuddling up with me in the back of the urban to sleep (I put a futon in there, so me and the dogs were cozy).
Saturday was going to be a scorcher, so I headed back home pretty early. I didn’t mean to, but managed to take a nap saturday afternoon.
Then, I headed back to camp in time for dinner saturday night. Very nice dinner… quite yummy pasta and bread.
Saturday night had more movies and geeking and then I wandered home to get back to the pups.

I took a few pictures, will try and get them up tomorrow…

Twyla update (more not good)

by on May.31, 2006, under Uncategorized

Well, got back from CSU a bit ago from taking Twyla up there for a checkup.
They did an X-Ray and it showed that the cancer has spread and grown quite a bit. There is one of the nodules that is pretty large and looks like it might be putting some fluid out around her lung. On the plus side she’s still happy and friendly and in no pain.
They gave me the option of enrolling her in a clinical trial:
go Here and look for the study titled:
“Canine osteosarcoma patients with lung metastasis”.

I am leaning toward not doing it at this point. It would mean she would get put under a lot (for CAT scan, for biopsy’s, for radation treatment). As much as I would like to help other hounds down the road, I don’t think its too fair to her to have all that happen instead of
just being happy until the end.
