Recap of the last few days:
Monday was the CLUE North meeting. It was a nice time. Efm gave a talk on Linux distributions that was well received and then a group went over to the cb potts and had beers and snacks and conversation. They are a good group of folks. I need to remind myself to go to the meetings now that they are really close to my house.
Tuesday and Wed were both pretty relaxing. Not much going on. Tuesday night was supposed to be the first session in the D&D game that is just starting up, but it turns out it's not good schedule wise this week. Everyone but me is going to meet up thursday and make up characters and such and then we will have the first session on tuesday next week.
Need to get ready for this weekend's trip. I am heading out friday night for tucson and coming back monday morning. We are having a family gathering with the whole family at Westin La Paloma Resort in Tucson. (Warning: tons of anoying flash). Should be a nice easy going time.
Another weekend of faire. Overall the weather was very nice. It was overcast and/or cool most of the time, then thunderstorms late the day. I'm sure the vendors didn't like the rain, but it was really quite nice the rest of the day. Some high points: Group of folks in the booth watching it rain really hard and singing songs. Low points: We inadvertantly left a chest out in the deluge and it got soaked. pictures are here.
The spankers show on friday was nice. Despite the fact that they use amplification now, assholes talking still messes up soft songs. The people listening to the band got really millitant to the dorks talking, but it was pretty hopeless. Still, a nice show and nice to see the band.
Oops. Busy week and I didn't really update. Here's a recap: Monday I just vegged out and relaxed around the house for once. Tuesday I went out and made a D&D character for a weekly game that a friend is starting up. It was fun to remember D&D games. I am looking forward to playing...it should be a nice time. Wed was more vegging. Thursday was hacking society, were I tried to upgrade kernels but ran into issues. Tonight is the asylum Street Spankers show. This up early tomorrow and sunday for Faire.
Nice full weekend of faire.
Saturday was very foggy and rainy. The faire was pretty much abandoned. Everyone must have decided that the weather was too bad to go out. We had a ton of people and dogs out. There was some issues with that and the faire management, resulting in first unreasonable and then reasonable rules about numbers and such. Glad it got worked out. Ran into Norm there, he was out on a trip and decided to swing by colorado. I didn't get a chance to see too much of him as I was at the booth most of the time.
Sunday was sunny and nice, many more people. The thunderstorms did come in later in the afternoon, but it was much nicer weather for most people. All the hounds were a bit more tired today after being at faire all saturday. They are going to sleep well tonight.
Here are the pictures from the weekend.
Got a new foster dog today. Her name is "mouse". She's about 50lbs or less. Very small for a greyhound. She seems very easy to deal with. No problems with the other dogs or the cat. She does bark/whine in the crate, but settles down when she sees that I am not going to let her out because she's barking. She does this weird little lip thing when she's happy. I can see how people might mistake it for a snarl. She should be pretty easy to find a home for.
Went off to a birthday party. It was going to be an outdoor BBQ type thing and I was going to take all the dogs, but with the rain it was indoor, so I thought 4 greyhounds would be a bit much, so I just took merlin with me. He did great. It was a nice time: tons of food and people to chat with.
Tomorrow is of course the ren faire, so I should go fold my kilt and go to sleep.
Pretty quiet week here. The weather has been overcast, cool and rainy, which is nice, except when it rains too much to allow me to go walk the dogs. Luckily it's cleared up a bit each day to allow me to do that.
Had a nice time at hackingsociety last night. Managed to upgrade to firefox 0.9 using the helpfull rpms at: http://lisas.de/~adrian/rpm/ Got tabbrowser extensions working, which I totally need anymore. We will have to see how stable it is compaired to 0.8. The current software suspend is working great as well, my laptop has been up for about 15 days now.
Weekend recap time.
Friday folks got into town and we had a nice BBQ here. Good crowd of folks and nice food. The people we sent to the grocery store didn't come back for a while (they decided to take a joy ride in a convertable instead), but we managed to scrounge up food anyhow. Pictures are here.
Saturday was Scott and Jen's wedding. It was at a place called Foss park. Very very nice. I managed to take a non direct way there from my house, and we only managed to get in just before the wedding started. The chapel was just large enough for everyone there to squeeze into. Very nice ceremony including some nice readings from friends. The reception was just down the hill at the reception hall. Good food, good friends, good music. All alround nice time. Around 5ish we dragged back to my house and had a relaxing evening of sitting around chatting and drinking. Pictures are here.
Sunday we headed down to the ren faire. Managed to get there just before the cannon went off. Nice to see old friends and old friends dogs. The weather was pretty nice. Cloudy most of the time and not too hot. There was an hour in there where the sun came out and it was pretty hot, but the clouds came back. We bugged out of the faire a bit early and went home and then out again for dinner. I crashed super hard then, along with the dogs. They had a full day. ren faire pictures here.
Should be a nice weekend coming up. C and MG are coming into the fine airport tonight. Tomorrow B and K arrive. Saturday is J and S'es wedding and reception. Sunday is (at least my) first day of colorado ren faire this year. Will try and take bunches of pictures.
Not many updates lately. Pretty typical week last week: Hacking Society meeting thursday night, manning the CGC table at the petsmart saturday during the day, a BBQ here saturday (Very small turnout on the BBQ, but still fun), and the CGC picnic sunday. Had a nice time at the picnic. Got to see a lot of foster dogs that I had fostered in the past. Merlin got to see is old family and just general fun. Took a few pictures, which are here
Pictures and a a write up of this weekends mayhem is now available.
