minireview: The Manchurian Candidate (2004)

I wasn't too sure we needed a new remake to The Manchurian Candidate, but decided to see it anyhow (thanks to Netflix. It was surprisingly good. They adapted it pretty well to a more modern setting. Hollywood usually seems pretty bad about remaking old movies. They either try and just remake it exactly as the older version (then why are they bothering? Probably a director that really loved the Original), or change it so dramatically that it has nothing to do with the Orig version except the name (possibly an attempt to get people to see it who know the first version). This Version had just enough changes to make it "feel" modern, and enough changes to make you want to watch to see who or what was going on. Denzel Washington did an excellent job. I would recommend this movie.
