xmas travels

So, last thursday I headed down to Los Alamos for xmas.click on for more... (sorry people reading via rss feed, the wordpress 2.0 update messed up my lj-cut plugin, so I am trying a page thing, but it may well just stuff them all on to one page for rss feed) First stop was Los Alamos to hang out with my friends there and their kids. The dogs of course traveled in style, it's and it's hard work: New Mexico is far. Lots of open road: long empty road Spot the anti-lope: anti-lope Los Alamos is in the middle of no-where, on top of a mesa. It's a pretty steep windy little road to get up there. There you can see a bunch of the labs buildings on the edge of the mesa: los alamos mesa We had a lovely evening relaxing in front of the fire and taking it easy. We did some prep work for santa to show up later that night. Xmas morning came in all too soon. Tons of presents and toys for the kids: Vet with present J and D and Vet D with presents D and J and D The fun part was one of the larger presents that was for both V and D, and they had to assemble a puzzle and find clues to get to the present: D and V assembling the first clue The first clue: first clue The second clue is found: second clue found Second clue assembled: assembling second clue Next clue: next clue next clue Finally the present, an exersize room: the big gift There are 3 black cats living there. Got a picture of them cuddling on the couch: Tonto, Romulus and Neuton Neuton looking out over the chair: neuton D got some new computer stuff for xmas, and we tried to shuffle things around so he could get his data off the old drives and such. We made quite a nice frankenstine doom: some computer doom After that we went and fired up the propane deep fryer to do the turkey. It was pretty amusing: the turkey approaches it's fate There is also a nice 135mb movie I made of the turkey going in. I guess I can link it here... might be a lot of BW tho. Later that night we worked more on computer doom. At one point we had one machine with all the drives in it and another broken machine next to it with it's power supply powering some of the drives in the first machine. It was quite amusing: amusing computer doom The next day I headed down to tucson. It's not as bad as going all the way from here, but still it was 8 hours or so of a drive. Got in just in time to start in on all the linens at my dad's place. We spent a few hours going over things and made a bit of progress. My brother was there with his new puppy, Cosmo. He's very cute and pretty well behaved for his age. cosmo My oldest sister was there with her terrier max: max After that point I didn't take too many pictures, and we worked on the estate. We managed to finish the garage and all the books over the next two days. We were hoping to finish off the kitchen, but then we didn't get to it with all the other stuff we were working on. So, looks like we will be getting together in february again to finish that up and pack up and haul off the larger items. Hopefully the kitchen is the last of it. The books took quite a while, there were a ton of them and books are hard to figure out unless you have read them or remember them. Monday and Tuesday and Wed we worked on that stuff, and thursday I headed home. Pretty uneventfull trip back, but it was pretty long and brutal. It's nice to be home.
