Syllogisms

A Syllogism is a form of logical argument developed by the ancient Greek philosopher Aristotle and used extensively by his followers during the Middle Ages. A syllogism consists of a major premise, a minor premise and a conclusion.

Examples of syllogisms:

Valid syllogism:
All men are mortal.
Socrates is a man.
Therefore, Socrates is mortal
Invalid syllogism:
All men are mortal.
Socrates is a man.
Therefore, all men are Socrates.
